My Smallfry Webpage

"The difference between men and Boys is the price of the toys..."

Welcome to My smallfry webpage. The original name was used on an old Atari computers Bulletin board I had setup in 1986-87. Since my site wasn't very large, I called it smallfry.

As you read on I have listed a few highlights of things I still like to do, like riding motorcycles, computers, singing, and writing.

I am married with 7 children, and several grandchildren.

Please read on and check out the links throughout the web site.

I started in 1982 with an Atari 400 Home computer system, with a data tape drive.

Over the years I went to a Apple Mac in 1987, and in to the Intel PC world in 1988.

I worked as the IT manager at my job in the HCSO office, using Novell with Dos, Arcnet, and Token ring. I also did PC workstation setup and repairs.

I did use Windows 3.0, 3.1, and 3.11 outside of work.

In 1995 I started using Windows 95, so I put myself in a 4 month Computer boot camp.  I earned my A+, MCSE NT 4.0, MCP Windows 2000, Novell 5.1, and IBM AS 400 training. I then tested for my certifications.

I now use my Apple iMac Intel computer with both MS Windows XP, and OS 10.5 at home.

I started writing short stories in 4th grade. During my public school years I wrote several stories.  In 1981 I wrote my first novel, but never tried to publish it.

The last few years I was working on my Associates degree in Creative Writing at the Austin Community College.

I do have a few incomplete works from the past 10 years or so.

I did purchase software to try and help me get some things completed.

 College Education late in life

In 2005 I enrolled at the University of Phoenix on-line and took one semester with four classes. I decided that even though I was in my late 40's I wanted to earn a college degree in Business Management. I then learned of the Texas Hazelwood Act for Texas veterans and 150hrs of paid tuition through Texas public universities. So I left U.O.P. and my student loans to look at Texas options.

I attended two semesters of classes at Texas Tech University in 2006, through their distance learning program. My classes were via the web with text books and workbooks mailed to my home. I then switched over to the Austin Community College and focused on a two year degree program in Creative writing.

Since I was a student at Texas Tech, they have become my college to support in all sports programs.  <Red Raiders>

Motorcycle Riding

I was lucky my father (Houston) and step father (Kansas City) taught me to ride motorcycles when I was still young and I grew up around them. After high school I went into the military reserves and after initial training I moved to Texas to see my father and I joined the San Jacinto HighRollers M/C in 1976. This was a A.M.A. "touring club" made up of both single riders and couples. Later that year I went into active duty Army and in 1977 ended up at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. Since this was only a few hours from Houston I continued to come to Houston to see family. I joined the Rainbow Riders M/C which had been created by former SJHR member's that decided to start their own club. I rode back and forth on weekends and attended various "runs" and rallies with the club.

In 1977 I started the Leesville, LA chapter of the Rainbow Riders M/C with support from the Texas main chapter. A local 1% club didn't want us using the Leesville rocker, so after a short time we folded the chapter. I took the same group and we started our own motorcycle club called the "Statesmen M/C" with a Ft. Polk rocker and everyone was happy. In January 1979 I went to Germany and the M/C folded shortly after I left.

I won the long distance trophy going to a Poker Run in Houston riding from Ft. Polk, 1977 on a Yamaha 650

I have ridden motorcycles since I was 12 years old. Mostly on my own for fun or transportation. I had a six year break between 2000 and 2006 without owning or riding a bike. Finally after that long absence I am back in the saddle again. In the past 27 years since I have owned various bikes but never joined another club until this year. (2006) I currently belong to a riding club. The Two Lane Road Riders Riding Assn.
