Motorcycle Riding
I was lucky my father (Houston) and step father (Kansas City) taught me to ride motorcycles when I was still young and I grew up around them. After high school I went into the military reserves and after initial training I moved to Texas to see my father and I joined the San Jacinto HighRollers M/C in 1976. This was a A.M.A. "touring club" made up of both single riders and couples. Later that year I went into active duty Army and in 1977 ended up at Ft. Polk, Louisiana.
Since this was only a few hours from Houston I continued to come to Houston to see family. I joined the Rainbow Riders M/C which had been created by former SJHR member's that decided to start their own club. I rode back and forth on weekends and attended various "runs" and rallies with the club.
In 1977 I started the Leesville, LA chapter of the Rainbow Riders M/C
with support from the Texas main chapter. A local 1% club didn't want us using the Leesville rocker, so after a short time we folded the chapter. I took the same group and we started our own
motorcycle club called the "Statesmen M/C" with a Ft. Polk rocker and everyone was happy. In January 1979 I went to Germany and the
M/C folded shortly after I left.

I won the long distance trophy going to a Poker Run in Houston riding from Ft. Polk, 1977 on a Yamaha 650 I have ridden motorcycles since I was 12 years old. Mostly on my own for fun or transportation. I had a six year break between 2000 and 2006 without owning or riding a bike. Finally after that long absence I am back in the saddle again.
In the past 27 years since I have owned various bikes but never joined another club until this year. (2006)
I currently belong to a riding club. The Two Lane Road Riders Riding Assn.
